An earlier post in the month, I asked if there were any charities you would think I should support for the upcoming Charity Drive where I would donate 100% of proceeds of Pomerak Ventures books and music sales to charity.
Bluntly, nobody replied to my call so I decided to choose the charity myself... It took a bit of thought but I didn't realise that the charity that called to me the most was one I actually benefitted from when I was growing up, that charity being the Open Blue Trust.
For those who are unaware, the Open Blue Trust utilises a blue double decker bus that travels around rural communities in Wiltshire that provide an outlet for young people, that can help provide social opportunities, and can give people a chance to be creative and learn vital skills that they otherwise wouldn't have access to, this trust also uses the bus to hold community gatherings by many people across North Wiltshire.
Before Pinehurst had a community centre which was completed in 2011, there weren't many spaces for young people to hang around and do things outside of school; due to the new construction of our school demolishing a basketball court and the former Pinehurst Peoples Centre; enter, the Open Blue bus: A double decker bus would be here for about 3-4 hours every Wednesday evening and would come back the following week. I believe this is a trust that would do good with any vital funds raised whether it's reaching more places, getting more technology and/or goods for the bus, or if it's even maintaining the bus, this is a charity which has given to me when I was around 12-13 years old when I wasn't in the best of states, so I'd like to give back.
The Open Blue Trust is a registered charity with the Charity Commission of England & Wales.
